In 2004 The Bakewell Family expanded there holdings into media, with the historical purchase of The Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper, the largest and oldest African American Newspaper west of the Mississippi.
Since then, they have expanded their media holdings into radio with the purchase of WBOK 1230 am in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Bakewell’s also created Taste of Soul-Los Angeles which is the largest street festival in Los Angeles hosting over 100,000 on the world renowned Crenshaw Boulevard.
