Danny J. Bakewell Jr. is the President & COO of The Bakewell Company. Under his guidance The Bakewell Company has developed and built over 4,000,000 square feet of retail, office and industrial commercial space throughout Southern California.

Mr. Bakewell. Jr. is a licensed general contractor in both California and Louisiana. Danny Jr. oversees the day-to-day operations of The Bakewell Company’s Land and Planning Department. He works closely with the project architects, designers, engineers, consultants, financial institution, and city officials to ensure all aspects of the project are being met. He oversees all projects through entitlements and city approvals as well as construction, leasing, management, and sales.

For the past several years Mr. Bakewell. Jr. has been spending the majority of his time on the Monterey Peninsula in Seaside, California overseeing the development of 380 single family homes on the former Fort Ord Army Base. Along with the construction of this single-family master planned home development, Mr. Bakewell. Jr has completed projects for the following Albertson’s, Ralph’s, Safeway/Vons, Food4Less Grocers, Lucky/Sav On’s, Pizza Hut, Hollywood Video, International House of Pancakes, McDonalds Corporation, Superior Super Warehouse, Rite Aid Drug Stores, Starbucks Coffee, and Foot Action Sports. He has also completed projects for the State of California’s local community colleges and several other major developers and retailers throughout Southern California.

Before joining to joining The Bakewell Company team, Danny Jr. was the Director of Development for Pasadena Neighborhood Housing Services where he headed up several multi-million dollar development projects including the rehabilitation of the Centennial Houses on Pasadena Avenue, the rehabilitation of Woodbury Seniors Housing Development on Woodbury and Marengo, and the Lincoln Avenue Development located at the corner of Lincoln and Mountain.

Mr. Bakewell Jr. is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) Real Estate Development and Finance Program. He is an active member of USC Real Estate Alumni and Friends (REAF), The USC Lusk Real Estate Advisory Council, and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In addition, Danny Jr. has honed a vast knowledge of both the construction and the development business.

Mr. Bakewell. Jr. has been recognized and received several commendations from a number of cities for his commitment to the local residents as well as minority and women owned businesses in the building of his projects. Currently, The Bakewell Company holds the record for bringing in more minority and women owned businesses in the cities of Pasadena, Hawthorne, Compton, and Los Angeles.

Mr. Bakewell Jr.’s social and community accomplishments are just as impressive as his business commendations. He’s been recognized by the Seaside, Pasadena, and Los Angeles NAACP chapters, Turning Point Magazine, and The National Association of Builders. In addition, Mr. Bakewell Jr. is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the NAACP Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors of Sabriya’s Castle of Fun Foundation, The Boys and Girls Clubs, Community Partnership for Youth (CPY), The Lions Club, The Next Vision Foundation (Detroit, Michigan), and The Kiwanis Club.
